Storage Instructions
For long-term preservation store your MONTECRISTO N.4 (25) in a quality humidor set to an even relative humidity. Aim for an ideal range of 68 to 70% RH with an acceptable window of 65 to 72% RH. Keep temperature steady around 68 to 70ºF (20 to 21ºC) and avoid sustained conditions above 75ºF or below 60ºF. Calibrate your hygrometer regularly and place the box of 25 in the centre of the humidor away from direct sunlight and heating vents. If you need short-term travel protection use a small travel humidor or a two-way humidity pack to prevent rapid swings that can crack a delicate wrapper or loosen the burn.
Care Tips
Handle MONTECRISTO N.4 (25) with clean dry hands and avoid excessive pressure on the wrapper to prevent nicks or seams from opening. When preparing to smoke cut just above the cap with a sharp cutter and gently toast the foot before drawing to preserve wrapper oils and even combustion. Allow new cigars to acclimatise in your humidor for at least one to two weeks after purchase for optimal balance. For enthusiasts who enjoy ageing expect meaningful development after six months and continued complexity over one to three years when stored properly. Finally rotate stock periodically so older cigars remain at the centre of stable conditions and enjoy each cigar at its best by smoking at a relaxed pace for an even burn and fullest flavour.
Reviews and Ratings
There are many expert reviews of the Montecristo No.4 size, though individual box packings like this 25 count do not usually receive separate reviews. Major publications such as Cigar Aficionado and Halfwheel have long praised the No.4 for its consistent construction and balanced profile. Reviewers commonly note notes of cedar, leather, coffee and a creamy finish with a steady draw and even burn. Retailer and enthusiast ratings tend to mirror those assessments, with many smokers calling the No.4 a reliable everyday smoke that delivers classic Montecristo character across different production years.
History and Heritage
Montecristo is one of the most recognisable names in premium cigars, with roots in the storied Cuban tradition and a reputation that spans decades. The No.4 petit corona has become an iconic size thanks to its approachable format and signature flavour profile. Craftsmen use aged long filler tobaccos and careful rolling to produce the consistency fans expect. Whether you encounter a Cuban original or a non-Cuban expression produced for other markets, the Montecristo name signals a focus on balance, refinement and a smoking experience that has appealed to generations of enthusiasts.
Tasting Notes
The MONTECRISTO N.4 (25) delivers a quintessential Cuban corona experience with a medium to medium‑full body and impeccable balance. On first light it unveils warm cedar and espresso, evolving into layers of bittersweet dark chocolate, leather and toasted almond, while a gentle baking‑spice pepper lingers on the retrohale. The smoke is creamy and velvety, carrying a subtle floral honey note that brightens the mid‑palate before yielding to a long, savoury finish. Aromas of sweet tobacco, damp earth and toasted wood rise from the foot, inviting slow, contemplative draws.
Pairing Suggestions
Aged Caribbean or Cuban rum, its molasses sweetness and oak spice mirror the cigar’s chocolate and cedar notes, adding warmth without overpowering; Espresso or ristretto, the coffee’s concentrated bitterness complements the cigar’s espresso and cocoa tones and sharpens the finish; 70%+ dark chocolate or a small plate of toasted almonds, the chocolate’s cocoa intensity and the nuts’ toasty richness echo the cigar’s nutty, bittersweet character for a harmonious tasting interlude.
