Storage Instructions

For ROM Y JUL ROMEO N.1 TUBO (25) keep your collection in a well-maintained humidor for optimal preservation. Aim for a steady relative humidity between 68 and 70% and a temperature between 65 and 70ºF (18 and 21ºC). The aluminium tubos that house each cigar provide extra protection and help stabilise humidity, but they are best stored inside your humidor rather than on an open shelf. Calibrate your hygrometer regularly and use distilled water or a quality humidor solution for traditional systems, or a 69% humidity pack for a low-maintenance option. Avoid direct sunlight, rapid temperature changes, and heat sources such as radiators or car boots. Do not refrigerate or freeze your cigars, as those environments will damage wrapper oils and accelerate deterioration.

Care Tips

Handle ROM Y JUL ROMEO N.1 TUBO (25) by the body and avoid pinching or dragging your fingernails across the wrapper to preserve its finish. Keep your hands clean and dry when touching the cigar. If you plan to smoke soon, allow newly shipped cigars to acclimatise in your humidor for at least one to two weeks. For those who value integration of flavours consider ageing these tubos for three to twelve months or longer depending on your taste. Rotate cigars occasionally within the humidor for even humidity exposure and inspect tubes for tight seals and any signs of damage. When preparing to smoke use a sharp cutter or punch for a clean draw and toast the foot gently before applying flame with a butane torch or cedar spill for the most even light. Watch for wrapper issues that come from improper storage such as cracks from low humidity or a sticky tackiness from high humidity. A white powdery coating that looks like sugar crystals is natural oil bloom and is safe, while fuzzy white or green spots are mould and should be addressed by isolating the affected sticks and drying and cleaning the humidor. For travel use a small travel humidor or sealed case with a humidity pack to keep ROM Y JUL ROMEO N.1 TUBO (25) in prime condition while you are on the move.

Publications such as Cigar Aficionado and community sites like Halfwheel and popular forums regularly describe the Romeo No.1 as a classic, approachable smoke with reliable construction. Typical tasting notes mention cedar and cream up front, a soft nuttiness in the mid-section, and a gentle pepper or leather on the finish. Scores for Romeo y Julieta offerings commonly fall in the 80s, reflecting a well-made, balanced cigar that appeals to a wide range of smokers. The tubo format earns praise from buyers for added protection and presentation, which keeps individual sticks fresher and easier to store.

History and Heritage

Romeo y Julieta is one of the most recognisable cigar names in the world, with roots in Havana dating back to the late 19th century. Over time the brand expanded beyond its Cuban origin and today offers both Cuban and non-Cuban lines produced under licensed manufacturers. The Romeo No.1 is a classic vitola in the line-up, known for a consistently medium profile and craftsmanship that emphasises balance over intensity. Tubo packaging has long been used by the brand to protect the wrapper and preserve the cigar during ageing and transport. For enthusiasts the Romeo No.1 in tubo presents a dependable, historically grounded option that showcases the brand’s long reputation for approachable, well-made cigars.

Tasting Notes

The ROM Y JUL ROMEO N.1 TUBO (25) presents a refined mild-to-medium body that will appeal to aficionados who favour balance and nuance. On first light, creamy cedar and toasted almond emerge, accompanied by a delicate citrus brightness and a whisper of white pepper that enlivens the palate. As the cigar develops, layers of coffee bean, light leather and a honeyed sweetness unfold, framed by a subtle floral aroma and clean hay notes. The finish is smooth and lingering, leaving a pleasing dry spice and faint cocoa on the retrohale.

Pairing Suggestions

Single-origin espresso, the concentrated, bittersweet espresso sharpens the cigar’s creamy and coffee undertones while its Acidity lifts the citrus highlights, creating an invigorating contrast. Aged Caribbean rum (5–12 years), its molasses and caramel notes echo the cigar’s honeyed sweetness and cedar, while gentle oak and spice from the rum complement the cigar’s dry finish. Dark chocolate or almond biscotti, a 70% dark chocolate bar or crisp almond biscotti amplifies the cigar’s cocoa and toasted-nut character, offering a satisfying textural and flavour counterpoint.
